52 ancestors Week 35 (Aug. 30-Sept. 5): School

Week 35 (Aug. 30-Sept. 5): School For the theme of “ school” I am using my Dad Peter William Lackey, even though he has been used previously. The reason for this I will explain. In my possession I have this photo (left) of my Dad in “ school” uniform. This has become a big problem. He attended 3 “ schools” (that we know of) during his life and had an apprenticeship in late teens. The photo says on the back P.W.Lackey “ school” , no year or anything. I have made contact with groups linked to the 3 “ schools” he attended – Dogsthorpe Infant and junior “ school” , Lincoln Road Boys “ school” and Deeping St James “ school” , all 3 have said that the photo is not of their uniforms. I would guess that my Dad is about 12 in the photo so would have been at boys “ school” and would have been about 1952/53. Sadly, I have no idea of where to look or how to locate where this uniform belongs to. I’m pretty sure he is too young to already be at his apprenticeship and as it was linke...

This is soooo my house right now! DAY 99 - Tuesday 23rd June 2020 I would love to say that this is how i spent my day but no, i don't have the patience to do something like this, nor am I that bored. I haven't been well all day (or all of last night), within an hour or so of taking the meds (see yesterdays  post here ) i had major stomach cramps, was feeling and being sick, had an upset stomach and was sleeping on and off. I said it would happen. I rang the docs back and they have told me to stop taking them and have upped the dose of the ibuprofen i take as i am ok with them. I managed to get a loan to get a new Fridge-freezer and have ordered one, its a bit taller than the old one so we may struggle to get it in through the cut out of wall from house to what was the outside cupboard as there is no longer a door to the cupboard either! BUT this slightly bigger one was £30 cheaper than the smaller one - where is the logic in that??? I have no idea. It won't be here until Th...

Oh yes, I know the feeling well....  DAY 43821 (aka 43) Tuesday 28th April 2020 Yep this is life as we know it at the moment. Anything out of the ordinary every curtain in the street is twitching or they are all out in their gardens to see what is going on. This certainly is a strange time. Things haven't been too bad today, but even so I have decided that i no longer want to be an adult and i'm going into hiding under a blanket fort (possibly known as my bed!) The weather is horrid and wet so the kids can't even go outside to burn off excess energy. This also means we can't go out and put up flags and stuff ready for VE Day. The kitten is back to being possessed by the devil, the eldest is still learning about hibernation (known as sleeping!) B has done his school work and is bored and K has done his work and is killing zombies again. There's no news on when things are going to change yet. DAY 44 Wednesday 29th April 2020 OH yes i can defi...

This is week 2 of self-isolation. I'm still alive and haven't lost the plot yet..... DAY 8 - Tuesday 24th March 2020 Today seems to have really dragged and 5 minutes seems like an hour. I had tried to do some bits on the family tree but the site keeps crashing (guessing everyone has had the same idea). J, K & B have all done the school/college work that has been set for them. I've told them if they get it done in the morning they can do their own thing for the rest of the day. I had a food delivery order arrive from Approved foods. Some of the bits in "the cupboard filler mystery box" we wont eat but they can go to the food bank. So will help someone. The box it came in was huge and I said could make B into a turtle with it, however, this has turned into him being a robot. (There will be more on this over the next few days as we progress with it). I've replaced the broken tumble dryer pipe with a metal one, hopefully this one wont rip like t...
