Week 3 (Jan. 18-24): Namesake – About me linked to Amy Rose and Dora Louise According to the dictionary "namesake" is a  noun -  a person or thing that has the same name as another. With the theme of “namesake” it really has to be linked to me as I’m the one doing this. Thankfully there is a story and link as to how I got my name (my sister wasn’t so lucky). I’m Amy-Louise Watson (nee Lackey), I was born in 1982 in Peterborough to Barbara May Haylock and Peter William Lackey. I was their 2 nd daughter. I spent most of my live in Peterborough, I went to school there, worked there, got married there, had my children there and then I moved to the Lake District in 2013. There are many ladies in the Tree called Amy and I have been named after one who was my Great Grandmother – Amy Rose Bland, who was also named after her Grandmother Amy Emma Rice. Amy Rose was born in 1904 in West Ham, Essex (now London). According to my Mum (Barbara), in the early 1980’s the name Amy wa

2021 Week 2 (Jan. 11-17): Family Legend – Lackey Family

Week 2 (Jan. 11-17): Family Legend – Lackey Family I’m not using the title of “family legend” as someone who is classed as a “family legend” for what they have done but in the sense of “family legend” linked to a story. My initial thought for “family legend” was to use an ancestor that has been mentioned mainly at funerals and in stories told but no records can be found linked to him, but upon checking I used him in a 52/52 last year so the story would be the same as I have no new information. Therefore I am going with my paternal lineage as a whole, the Lackey family of Ireland. The “family legend” around the Lackey family is that hundreds of years ago the Lackey family didn’t exist as such. They did, but not under the Lackey name, nor were they from Ireland. I know the name Lackey means “slave or servant” and this is linked to the “family legend ”. Story has it that the Lackey family originated from Scotland. They were part of the clan MacGregor (and if you can trace it

2021 Week 1 (Jan. 1-10): Beginnings – Contact with new cousin S.

Following on from doing this in 2020 and not finishing it until last minute due to losing all my photos and documents and losing interest in doing it, I have decided I am going to take part again this year with or without photos and regardless of any problems I may face. Week 1 (Jan. 1-10): Beginnings – Contact with new cousin S As this this the 1 st week of 2021 it could be used as the “beginnings” theme, but I’m not going that way, I am going a totally different direction. A few days before the end of 2020 a lady had posted a photo in a family history group that I belong to (from where one line of my ancestors lived). She had added a comment that her Grandmother was the lady on the end of the row and gave her Grandmothers name, the same as my ancestors of the area. I commented on the photo that we could be distantly related as I am related to people of her Grandmother’s surname. The lady replied and asked if I had her Grandmother in my tree, I said I did. She sent me a privat

NEW YEAR update

So 2020 wasn't what most of us planned, hoped or expected it to be. We spent more time at home, had to work from home and home schooled our kids  more than the paid teachers taught them. The covid 19, CV19 or Coronavirus didn't go away even after we were all placed in lockdowns (even though they say it dies are 14days of isolation). BUT this maybe due to the fact that people can't follow rules, admittedly the rules kept being changed on us daily an weekly. There was a 2nd strain of the virus that started going around which seemed to be much worse than the 1st was. And vaccines were found within 5months of starting to look for them (how come they have spent decades and millions looking for a cure for cancer and aids and never found one???) I had started blogging on here weekly but in days entries, i had hoped to continue until we were out of lockdown and free from CV19. However, when my laptop died the great death it did, i lost all of my entries and memes and stuff and onl

GREMLINS

GREMLINS are amongst us!!! I'm not 100% sure if they are the furry little creatures from the 1980's or in some other form, BUT they are here on the internet!!! Please don't start to panic (there's enough of that going on in the world as it is!!!)  Most of my posts on here that were made in December 2020 have all been published in what can only be described as dots and dashes (no i didnt do them in morse code). I have no idea why they are like they are. I have tried to edit the posts and they go up exactly the same. SO i have added the content as a comment underneath the post so that they make sense. I dont have time to remove them all and re-do as that means adding pics as well. Fingers crossed the GRMELINS vanished at the stroke of midight on 31st december and this post works.
