Week 22 (May 27 th -June 2 nd ): Uncertain From Amy Johnson Crow -Chances are you have at least one person listed in your family tree who you're not quite sure about. This would be a good week to write about him or her. Sometimes writing out what you know (or what you think you know) can help you discover things you're missing and things that don't add up the way you thought. When I 1 st saw this theme of " uncertain " back in January when I signed up the 52 ancestors challenge and got the full list of weekly challenges I was like this could be taken so many ways and linked to so many people, how am I going to choose someone to write about. Then in the middle of February I came across a website that had some of my ancestors in it but also some information I wasn’t aware of. This decided for me who I was using for this week’s theme of “ uncertain ”. I decided to use my 3 rd Great Grandfather Thomas Jackson, well linked to him as I know who he is

Coronavirus (Covid-19, CV19) We will survive this (or die trying to).....week 11

Oh yes, i feel just like this and want to sleep and/or hide from it all. Is it a case of "if i can't see you then you can't see me?" DAY 71 - Tuesday 26th May 2020 I think that should be they have been turned into currys! I can't say that the thought of eating infected people is nice or one 1 want to try out. I am up at stupid o'clock (7:45am as i type this) and have been awake since 5:40am when J yelled "get off me" - i jumped out of bed and grabbed a can of deodrant and went to his room to find him fast asleep. No idea of his dream (or nightmare!) But it's safe to say i didnt get back to sleep! Phoebe is in full hyper mode again, chasing her tail in circles and then yelping when she catches and bites it. At times like this i do think being a cat would be good - fed on demand, toilet cleaned after you, no bills to pay and little things amuse you. lol. I've not really done much today, apart from so

52 ancestors Week 21 (May 20th -26th ): Tombstone

Image
From Amy Johnson Crow - I've always felt comfortable in cemeteries. I've always been fascinated with the stories scattered among the tombstones. Have any of your ancestors left an intriguing tombstone? Maybe you have a story of your search for where your ancestor is buried. Do you have a favorite ancestral cemetery or tombstone? What cemetery do you want to visit? This weeks topic is “ tombstone ” however, I’m going to use the word " gravestone " as I’m in the Uk. I am using my 2 nd Great Grandparent on the paternal line, Robert Lackey and Mary Jane Lackey nee Jackson. I had found out where they were buried many many years ago. However, it was a good 4hours plus drive from where I lived, so I couldn’t   get to visit it. In 2007 we had been up to Edinburgh to see family and on the way back we made a detour off the main road to go and see it. It was fairly easy to find. Many of the Graves at St Mary’s Church West Rainton, Durham were in an unkept man

Welcome (not sure that's the best word but hey) to week 10! DAY 64 - Tuesday 19th May 2020 Oh yes i can fully link with this. I can also smell, feel and taste it! My talents are endless. I would say see it but that one everyone can do! And i can definately see it as the walls in lounge are a deep but bright purple. It has just gone 10am as i have started writing this today and i'm already on coffee number 2. I really do think that coffee is becoming a new friend of mine. I've drank way more than i usually do. Day 65 - Wednesday 20th May 2020 oh yes, this is so true! i have had enough of the house and the garden, but i have been to the local shop. the worst of this is that i dont even like people! So yes today's lesson was mixing drinks - pink marshmallow & candyfloss gin with lemonade and then candy-cane gin with lemonade. B also made me coffee.  We had the bouncy castle out for B, he had lots of fun on it. He asked if he could camp out in the

52 ancestors Week 20 (May 13th -19th ): Travel

Image
Week 20 (May 13 th -19 th ): Travel From Amy Johnson Crow - "Travel" is a part of many of our ancestors' lives. Travelling across an ocean or a continent for life in a new land. Travelling to a different state to elope. Travelling for work, either as a salesman or working the railroads or canals. Travelling for vacation. What ancestral travel tales have you found? I have many ancestors that “ travelled ” for work and to move to new places to live, but I don’t have much information on them or any photos so the story could be very short (and boring). However, my Great Uncle “Fred” Arthur Wood was in the Royal Navy and “ travelled ” with them, and I have photos of him. We had been told Fred was known as Arthur (it may have been his middle name but I have found no record of this) and this alone caused me no end of problems. I spent a long time searching for records linked to “Arthur Wood” and buying certificates linked to this name to find he wasn’t my ancest

week 9 of this madness... DAY 57 - Tuesday 12th May 2020 Day 2222 (also more commonly known as day 57). Life as we know it, this is now the normal we know. No one know what to do and every day is the same. This is how i feel about BOJO at the moment, but i do feel the 5th voice is thinking the same thing as the other 4 and also wants to bury him! The questions below were shared on FB and me and the boys answered them, our answers are as follows: Ask your child and have a giggle, not only now but in a memory a year from now.  Blake 10,  Kenzie 14,  Jarred 17, Me 38 What is the Corona virus? -  A virus,  Exactly that a virus – a web of virus’s,  I don’t no,  A pain in the bloody arse Who is the prime minister? - Bojo a big fat ugly man , A useless sack of shit that’s trying his best , Borris johnson , A knobjockey that is trying to kill off more people How many days have we been in lockdown? 9weeks , Between 63-70 but I stopped counting after week 1 , To
