Covid-19 (Coronavirus/CV) We will survive this.....(or die trying to) (Week 1)

Thanks to my sons school putting him on self isolation, my whole house is on lock-down for the next who-knows-how-long! I shall be adding to this daily as we go (each post shall have a week on it). I have 3 children eldest J, middle K and youngest B this is how they shall be referred. There are the animals the dog, 3 cats, a kitten and a bearded dragon. I think this could make interesting reading in a book for the future generations. We shall see.

DAY 1 - Tuesday 17th March 2020

Happy St Patrick's Day. The luck of the Irish certainly isn't with us at the moment. Today K's school have decided that he is to self-isolate even though he has no symptoms of CV19 but they don't want to risk having him in school.

On Monday my middle son K was sent home from school with dizziness, feeling like he was going to pass out and chest pains (NOT CV related, but he has an underlying chest/heart complaint that the docs and hospital are investigating and this happens loads to him). He was still going dizzy yesterday so i kept him at home and this morning i rang the school and spoke to his year head. She said she didn't really want him in school and didn't want to be responsible for him possibly getting anything that could make him really ill, so she would prefer him to stay home and self -isolate. Plus 3 of his friends have been sent home with headaches, temperatures and sickness. FUN!

I rang the junior school and spoke to the attendance officer and i was told to keep the youngest B off  school as well so "he doesn't bring anything home". OK, so 2 sons down 1 to go, I rang the college and the receptionist got a bit panicky, i had to tell her a few times that we DON'T have CV but are trying to protect my middle son from getting anything. They said J could stay today but wasn't allowed back in before the Easter Holidays.

Yesterday i shared this post on FB it's very funny and fits the current situation.

DAY 2 - Wednesday 18th March 2020

The local radio station are broadcasting from their homes and i think the DJ's have a warped sense of humour and too much time on their hands linked to the songs being played, they have included: *don't stand too close to me (or something like), *Saturday night fever, *conquer the world by Jessie j, *another 1 bites the dust, *calm me down by Megan Trainor, *prayer for the dying, *Taylor Swift about getting better, *if tomorrow never comes (line from a song i don't know the title), and now despercito. HAHA  this is funny, keep it up guys.

Life is continuing as normal at this point. I haven't stock piled loo roll or anything else, not that there's any in the shops to stock pile.

DAY 3 - Thursday 19th March 2020

The eldest J, is in mega teenager strop mode as he can't go to college, its not fair, he hasn't got CV, neither has K so why is he being punished. He has taken this self-isolation to heart and has shut himself in his bedroom. I've only seen him from his room for food and to load the dishwasher. He has then vanished back to his room. I feel this is how it's going to be for the foreseeable future.

K's chest and dizziness has passed (for now) and he thinks his brothers should be grateful and thank him that they are getting extra time off school. He's playing a zombie killing game and thinks it's the end of the world.

B is still at his Dads house (where he was over the weekend as not well (NOT CV but generally sickness bug) but he will be back here later in week (they are not having contact with people either so are safe to come here.) He has said that he has no work to do and the school can't email him any as they don't have his email address - no but they have mine and his Dad's. HAHA nice try son.

Today has seen people sharing "an advert" for NOW that's what i call music's latest CD - Coronoavirus hits, the songs include *don't stand so close to me by the police, *toxic by Brittney Spears, *lonely by Akon and *fever by Peggy Lee.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary still. I don't think this will last though.

DAY 4 - Friday 20th March 2020

Day 4 of this madness has been survived. No blood has been shed (except from a scratch from the kitten, who seems to be possessed by the devil or high on catnip and redbull, hyper doesn't cover it! The kids haven't eaten everything in sight (yet) and no more loo rolls have been shredded by the devil cat. There's still no sign of illness here (thank god) but i'm not risking anything especially with K's chest and heart problem and asthma and my asthma and low immune system.

J is still hiding out in his bedroom and only emerging for bare essentials and minimal contact with us. K has been threatened of loosing his laptop power cable or his internet access if he doesn't stop being gobby. Either of these options could be funny to watch BUT i feel i would soon give them back to him as he would moan. B is still at his Dads and seems to be his usual happy self.

There has been no fighting or arguing so far, but the kids are staying away from each other. The days do seem to be merging into one and both me and K have asked what day we are on. lol! The unicorn pink gin (very nice) has been opened and I've eaten my chocolate.

Stay safe people.

DAY 5 - Saturday 21st March 2020

Today i have added stuff to my main blog that may help parents - it has worksheets and printable's  and websites and activities to do with kids. feel free to take a look and share.

I have spoken to the cat on how it does this (pic right) and apparently it's "advanced moves" and not for humans!

J left the house this morning and went to work (armed with hand gel) and was told NOT to let anyone breathe on him! His shift was ended early and he has hibernated in his room again, hes playing music through his speaker that's small but loud and was his Easter gift. He doesn't like the fact that i'm his "teacher" for the next few weeks, and started to be gobby, so hes been told he carries on will loose the plug to his laptop and internet. that's 2 out 3 children been told now.

K didn't get up until lunch time and has been killing zombies since on his laptop. As well as playing rallying games on it that were his Easter present. He has gone to his Dad's for a few days.

B has come home and is over the moon with his Easter gift of a Thomas super cruiser for his trains. And he has started argueing with J and screaming at him. We've done a mini science experiment today linked to which glass held the most water.

Today's radio DJ is also playing great songs, *hello by Adele (the world's crumbling at my feet), meet me in the middle by dua lipa (sit over there),  *back to black by Amy Winehouse, *stronger (what doesn't kill you), *till the world ends by Brittney spears, *give me everything by pittbull (for all we know, we might not get tomorrow),  *scrubs, *one last time by ariane grande, *I will survive by Tina turner and *the final countdown by Europe. This is getting quite comical.

Food has been delivered by Sainsbury's (cost double what i normally spend in Aldi and for less than half the items. BUT was only way to get a delivery). Substitutions loads most acceptable - apple juice for orange juice, white cheese for red cheese, frozen chicken breasts instead of fresh chicken breasts, fresh potatoes instead of tinned, reduced salt oxo instead of normal oxo i can cope with these BUT baking powder instead of yeast errr not an option!!!

The kids have been told they are NOT eating multiple bags of crisps or snacks a day as i dont know when i can replace them. No more gin has been consumed (or anything else alcoholic), lets see how long it lasts.

DAY 6 - Sunday 22nd March 2020

Happy Mothers Day to all Mum's the world over. This year will be a very strange one for us all, not being able to go and visit Mums/Nans etc, but this doesn't mean we're not thinking of them.

The weather has been lovely and sunny the past few days (not normally like this), normally raining in cumbria! This does ask the question if this virus is man made and done on purpose to get us all to slow down and make the world better?

Things still seem to as "normal" here. J is still hiding out in his room, K is still at his Dads and B is playing with his trains.

The schools/college have all issued online work for the kids to do (they are NOT impressed by this especially J). BUT this is NOT an extended holiday it is to keep them and everyone else safe!

I've not lost the plot YET! but there's plenty of time for that. However, I have told everyone on FB NOT to send me stats and figures and things linked to CV19 as it is now starting to do my head in and set my anxiety off. My head is starting to deflate like pic above!

DAY 7 - Monday 23rd March 2020

The sun is shining, there are very few cars about, there are no planes in the sky, the birds are singing and it very surreal. I've never known anything like it in my life.

J has gone to supermarket with his Dad (no idea of how much they are going to be able to get). K and B are both logged onto their school sites and doing work.

Food - they managed to get 80% of what was on the list, no where had yeast or baking powder though, so still can't make own bread.

My best friend seems to have taken this isolation to heart and I've not spoken to him in near a week and very little online communication either.

Boris Johnson (Prime minister) has put the UK on full lock-down from 9pm this evening for at least 3 weeks and you can only go out if you are a key-worker, a carer, going shopping for food (and then only 1 person per house), or for doctors apps and medicines etc. They have also said only 1 person in a car so this now means the boys can't go to their Dad's.  If TW*TS had listened and stopped going far from home hanging around parks and meeting others we may not be in this situation! The Valley Primary School has fully shut even for those children of key-workers. B has said he hopes that they can get back there before July so he can say bye to his teachers and they can have the leaving assembly etc.

Not much else to report from today. I've NOT tried to bath the cat (or the kids) but it sums up day 7 well.
